Snow Day Activities!

It is officially winter, and with the winter months comes the beloved (or dreaded) snow day. As fun as it may seem initially, it can be hard to have children cooped up for an entire day. Perhaps this gives you an opportunity to get the kids in the kitchen to help you make some warm, cozy meals. Exposing children to new foods and encouraging them to help in preparation of family meals can result in acceptance of a wider variety of foods. Let them measure, pour, stir, or even chop depending on their age. They may even enjoy it!

Here are some quick and easy recipes to help you stay warm on a cold winter (snow) day.

Breakfast: Hearty Irish Oatmeal
Lunch: Basic Chicken Soup
Snack: Baked Apples
Dinner: Vegetable Lasagna

For a change of pace, explore YouTube or On Demand content for exercise videos for all ages. You can choose from ballet, yoga, zumba, strength training, or even boot camp style workouts. Many videos require little to no equipment and minimal space. If you have a Wii Fit, or Kinect system, you could try some interactive video games to get moving as well.

Stay warm!
